The following comments have been provided by Massimo Accordi; "MRI has stated that the new Nigerian banknotes "will have their value expressed in Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba. The Arabic inscription will be eliminated". In fact, what appears now in Arabic SCRIPT on Nairas IS Hausa. Hausa is a Western African language which is used in a widespread area for communication between different peoples, but mainly Muslim ones. That's why it has been written traditionally with Arabic letters, although a Latin alphabet is also in use. To give you an example, the 1,000 Naira say in Arabic script "Naira Dbu", while in Arabic it is "Alf Naira". Which alphabets are going to be used on the new notes I don't know; theoretically, Ibo and Yoruba (languages of the Southern part of the country where Christians are the majority) should be written in Latin script, while Hausa (language of the North, mainly Muslim population) still in Arabic script. In 10 days' time we will know." 23 Feb, 2007 - The Finance Ministry says the Czech Republic might very well adopt the euro in the year 2012.
