The Royal Bank of Scotland has released it's first ?50 Banknote in 278 years with date of 14 September 2005. The front of the note bears the usual image of the first governor, Lord Ilay (1621-1761), Left hand side of the note inlay watermark of Lord Ilay. The Back of the note depicts Inverness Castle, in line with the other notes in the banks history ?100 ? Balmoral Castle, ?20 ? Brodick Castle, ?10 ? Glamis Castle, ?5 ? Culzean Castle & ?1 ?
