13 Oct, 2007 - Israel: The next facelift for the country's banknotes, which make up 96 percent of the money in circulation,, may give new meaning to the saying "paying with plastic" after the Bank of Israel said Sunday it soon may replace the current low-quality bills with polymer, or plastic, banknotes. 03 Oct, 2007 - Israel: On 23 Sep we reported that Israel is preparing to issue a new series of Polymer notes. Now on a Russian news site it has been reported that 1 million 20 shekel polymer notes will be released on February 1, 2008. No change in the design of the notes is expected. If the trial is successful, all 20 shekel notes will be converted to polymer, followed by the other denominations within 2-3 years. Compliments of Alex Zlotin. 23 Sep, 2007 - Israel: The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday that the Bank of Israel is preparing to issue plastic banknotes that may eventually replace the current paper currency.
