24 Sep, 2007 - The Bank of Ghana released a new date of the P35 10,000 Cedi note in 2006 with the date of 4.8.2006. This note, as well as the other notes of this series were withdrawn and replaced on 1 Jul, 2007 as reported here on 27 Jun, 2007. Please note that the 2,000, and 20,000 Cedi notes previously reported with a date of 05 Aug 2006 are actually dated 04 Aug. Compliments of Pierguido Laffi.

27 Jun, 2007 - Ghana: On 1 July, the country will introduce the Ghana cedi (GHc) which will shave off a significant number of zeros from the current denomination in an effort to make financial transactions simpler. The GHc will set 10 000 cedis to one Ghana cedi.

07 May, 2007 - Ghana: We have updated our report on the new issue of Ghana notes to include additional details concerning the banknotes.

05 May, 2007 - The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has unveiled the various notes and coins for the new Ghana cedi (GH?) which will come into circulation from July 1, this year. The new notes are in one, five, 10, 20 and 50 cedi denominations, while the coins are in one, five, 10, 20 and 50 pesewas. Compliments of Andrew Roberts, and Cleo Phas.

GHANA 2007 ISSUES

01 May, 2007 - Ghana: A new date of 4.6.2006 has been reported for the Ghana P33 2,000 Cedi. The note has a FV of $0.22, and an estimated CV of $3-4.00. No image is available at the moment. Compliments of Ronny Hick.

04 Apr, 2007 - Ghana: The Western Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kwaku Baa Owusu has said that the re-denomination of the cedi is consistent with the reforms envisaged under the West Africa Monetary Zone (WAMZ) programme.

20 Mar, 2007 - Ghana: A new date of 3.9.2001 has been reported for Ghana's 2,000 Cedi note. Compliments of Andrew Roberts.

29 Jan, 2006 - Ghana: Banknotes of 5,000 and 20,000 Cedis have been reported with the new date of 5 August 2006. Compliments of Andrew Roberts.

08 Jan, 2007 - The Ghanaian Cedi will be re-denominated this year with ?10,000 equaling ?1.

15 Dec, 2006 - The Bank of Ghana will from July 2007 introduce new cedi notes and coins to replace the existing ones. The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Paul Acquah, explaining the re-denomination has said the current notes, which are in denominations of 20,000, 10,000, 5,000, 2,000 and 1,000 and the coins in 500, 200 and 100 would be re-denominated "by setting 10,000 cedis to one new Ghana Cedi".

01 Dec, 2006 - Ghana's Cedi notes and coins in circulation are to be re-denominated and replaced with Ghana Cedi (GH Cedi) and Ghana Pesewas (Gp) with effect from July 2007, Dr Paul Acquah, Governor of Bank of Ghana, announced on Saturday.

05 Oct, 2006 - Ghana: Two New Dates not previously reported are a P15 5 Cedis 2.1.1976, and a P37 5,000 Cedis 3.9.2001. These notes are not listed in SCWPM, VOL III, 12th Ed. Compliments of Andrew Roberts.
