17 May, 2007 - Fiji: It has always been a disappointment to me when I hear of a government getting into the business of producing coins, or in this case banknotes, for the collector's market. We have been informed by Leon Morel that the Fiji government has decided to add a surcharge of 10% to the over the counter exchange of their new banknotes. In addition they are imposing an export fee for these banknote, i.e., 25% over face on $2; 20% on $5; 15% on $10; 15% on $20; 7% 0n $50, and 5% on the 100 Dollar banknotes. As a result of this increase in cost we have revised our estimated catalog value. 12 May, 2007 - Fiji: We have now received and posted images of all of the new Fiji 2007 Issues. 02 May, 2007 - Fiji: As originally reported on 10 Mar, 2007, the Reserve Bank of Fiji has released it's new 100 Dollar 2007 banknote. Thanks to Thomas Krause we now have an image of the new note. |

09 Apr, 2007 - The Reserve Bank of Fiji will be introducing the $100 denomination together with the other new banknotes of $2, $5, $10, $20 and $50 These notes come into circulation from Tuesday, 10 April 2007. Special matching serial numbered sets will be offered. 13 Mar, 2007 - Fiji: Copies of the President of Fiji, and the Governor's Speech, along with a Press Release concering the release of the new $100 note, and a Pamphlet describing the features of the New Design Series are available in .pdf (You will require Adobe Reader), and were provided by Trevor Wilkin with compliments of Arthur Matz. 10 Mar, 2007 - The Reserve Bank of Fiji's introduction of the $100 note reflects the growth in the economy, the change in spending habits and the advance in technology, says the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji. The launch was expected to take place 1 Dec at the RBF, with the Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase doing the honours. A statement from the bank said the launch has been cancelled due to the current political unrest.
