The new bills will feature new security elements, as well as a portrait of writer Antonio Aurelio Goncalves. The 1,000-escudo bills currently in use will not be taken out of circulation. 06 Mar, 2007 - Cape Verde has released a new, 25.2.2007, 500 Escudos banknote with a new signature combination. Compliments of Claudio Marana, and Cleo Phas. |


New Cape Verde 1,000 Escudos dated 1.7.2002, similar to P65. The note has new signatures and new signature titles (Governador and Administrador). Printing company is Thomas de la Rue and Company Limited. Note is not listed in SCWPM, VOL III, 11th Ed., Similar to P63 Dimension: 121 X 62 mmPredominant Color: Green The issuance of this new version of the 200$ note (two hundred shields) comes in the sequence of the process of revision of the previous note family of The Bank of Cape Verde, initiate in 1999, dictated for the necessity of incorporation in notes of the last on technological advances to the security. The front of the note is dominated by the picture of the Schooner Ernestina, placed on a medallion that represents the firm. On this medallion, and on the left side of the note, the text "20 of January of 2005", date of its issue. On the base of support of the picture of the Ernestina, and on a band in the green color clearly, there appears enrolled the text "200 TWO HUNDRED SHIELDS", in two lines. This band has covered the watermark, worked from a picture of Amí¬£ar Cabral, and supports circular elements that is developed throughout all the width of the note. On this same band is placed the designation "BANK OF CAPE VERDE, in two lines. The vertical numeration of the note with the numbers esculating, with dark green color and printed with fluorescent ink, in the right side. Also on the band a detail of the cloth-of-workmanship, printed matter in intaglio, and that it serves as element of identification of the note for deficient appearances. On a horizontal band, left represents the sea, is appositive the horizontal numeration of the note with the numbers esculating, which is printed with legible magnetic ink for machines to read. In the verse of the note an allusive composition to some medias meets, on which it clearly appears a band in the green color. On the left, vertically the drawing of a guided spike of maize. Of the right side of this band the weapons of the Republic of Cape Verde. The safety thread, introduced in the verse of the note is soaked in the paper, and has legible properties for classificadora machine. The strip is made of fluorescent staple fibres, 100% cotton, and is dealt with with a protective layer platinum to increase its durability. Translated from Bank of Cape Verde website.
